Prague Cosmopolis

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is an important European cultural metropolis and a top global convention destination, the significance of which has been growing at an unusual pace of late. This is partly due to the attractiveness of the surroundings and partly due to the quality of the new top hotels with modern facilities, which unlike in most of Europe were built in Prague after 1989. In Prague huge investments are made into the convention infrastructure, the capacities and services of which are further enhanced by an international airport. A significant advantage of the Czech Republic, more specifically Prague, is its ideal location in the heart of Europe. There are dozens of international flights arriving in Prague daily, and Prague is also a top location for several low-budget airlines. One can travel to Prague quickly, cheaply and safely.
Prague is the most significant Czech urban historical reserve. Since 1992 the city’s historical core, spanning 866 ha, has been registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. An interesting history, eleven centuries of cultural development and a beautiful scenic location with a mysterious atmosphere continually draws a growing number of tourists from all around the globe. For centuries distinguished artists have paid tribute to Prague. Those who have confessed to being enchanted by its beauty and atmosphere include W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, G. Apollinaire, P. I. Tchaikovsky, F. M. Dostoevsky, A. Rodin, O. Kokoschka and even British monarch Elizabeth II and Pope John Paul II. Also, the work of several authors has been influenced by their hometown of Prague - Jaroslav Hašek, Jaroslav Seifert, Franz Kafka, Max Brod, Egon Erwin Kisch, etc.
The Municipal House, a national cultural landmark, is a gem among Art Nouveau architecture in Prague, as well as a unique convention area. Among the many who have included a tour of it in their visit program are the Emperor and Empress of Japan. The Municipal House is located in the very centre of the metropolis, directly neighbouring the Powder Gate. It was built in the years 1905 – 1912 in the location of the former princely court, which in the years 1383 – 1484 was the residence of Czech kings. The Municipal House has an original and pleasant atmosphere that is enjoyed by Art Nouveau lovers and ordinary people alike. The spatial arrangement of the exquisite, artistically decorated halls (A. Mucha and other Czech artists) allow for the connecting and combining of any number of seats and are an ideal location for conventions and conferences. The Municipal House has top quality technical facilities at its disposal and can present several specialized offers. Prominent guests are, for example, permitted to rent the conductor’s suite with an impressive view of all of historic Prague. In addition to the distinct convention setting, there is a rich cultural program to be offered directly in the building, so conference organizers and participants leave delighted by the unique atmosphere and originality and often return. They particularly appreciate the choice of location. The Municipal House, with its surroundings and multifunctional character, offers a markedly distinct experience that differs from that of other convention centres, which tend to resemble one another the world over.
